If you are instructed to return the power supply, follow all packaginginstructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied toyou.Replacing a 1400-watt or 900-watt hot-swap power supplyThis information provides instructions on how to replace a 1400-watt or 900-watthot-swap power supply.The following notes describe the type of power supply that the server supportsand other information that you must consider when you install a power supply:v The server comes standard with one 900-watt (input voltage 110 or 220 V acauto-sensing) hot-swap power supply or one 1400-watt hot-swap power supply(input voltage 110 or 220 V ac auto-sensing) depending on your model.Note: You cannot mix 110 V ac and 220 V ac input voltage power supplies inthe server, it is not supported.v Do not mix 900 watt and 1400 watt power supplies in the server, it is notsupported.v These power supplies are designed for parallel operation. In the event of apower-supply failure, the redundant power supply continues to power thesystem. The server supports a maximum of two power supplies.Note: When two 900 watt or 1400 watt power supplies are installed andconnected to 110 V power source, redundancy is available only for a limitedconfiguration.v The optional IBM Power Interposer for Redundant Power Option kit or the IBMMicroprocessor and Memory Expansion Tray must be installed in the server tosupport two power supplies, if one is not installed in your model.Statement 5CAUTION:The power control button on the device and the power switch on the powersupply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device.
