Removing a RAID battery or flash power moduleThis information provides instructions on how to remove a RAID battery or flashpower module.About this taskIf a RAID adapter battery is installed remotely in the server and you need toreplace the RAID adapter battery, complete the following steps:Procedure1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page viiand “Installation guidelines” on page 35.2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 22) and all attachedperipheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all externalcables as necessary to replace the device.3. Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 226).4. Locate the battery/flash power module trays on top of the USB/videoassembly (above the operator information panel).5. Press the tray retention clip tab to the left and remove the retention clip.6. Disconnect the battery cable or flash power module cable from the failedbattery or flash power module and remove it from the tray.ResultsIf you are instructed to return the battery or flash power module, follow allpackaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that aresupplied to you.Replacing a RAID battery or flash power moduleThis information provides instructions on how to replace a RAID battery or flashpower module.About this taskWhen you install any RAID adapter that comes with batteries or flash powermodules, they must be installed remotely in the server to prevent them fromoverheating. The batteries or flash power modules must be installed in the trays ontop of the USB/video assembly (above the operator information panel). To installthe batteries or flash power modules remotely in the server, complete the followingsteps:Procedure1. Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety” on page vii and“Installation guidelines” on page 35.2. Place the new battery into the battery tray.3. Connect the battery cable to the new battery and replace the battery retentionclip to secure the batteries in the trays.4. Install the cover.5. Slide the server into the rack.6.
