When you replace a device in the server, you might have to update the firmwarethat is stored in memory on the device or restore the pre-existing firmware from aCD or DVD image. The following list indicates where the firmware is stored:v UEFI firmware is stored in ROM on the system board.v IMM2 firmware is stored in ROM on the system board.v Ethernet firmware is stored in ROM on the Ethernet controller and on thesystem board.v ServeRAID firmware is stored in ROM on the system board and the RAIDadapter (if one is installed).v SAS/SATA firmware is stored in ROM on the SAS/SATA controller on thesystem board.Configuring the serverUse this information for programs that you can use to configure the server. The following configuration programs come with the server:v Setup utilityThe Setup utility is part of the UEFI firmware. Use it to perform configurationtasks such as changing interrupt request (IRQ) settings, changing thestartup-device sequence, setting the date and time, and setting passwords. Forinformation about using this program, see “Using the Setup utility” on page 142.v Boot ManagerThe Boot Manager is part of the UEFI firmware. Use it to override the startupsequence that is set in the Setup utility and temporarily assign a device to befirst in the startup sequence. For more information about using this program, see“Using the Boot Manager” on page 149.v IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CDThe ServerGuide program provides software-setup tools and installation toolsthat are designed for the server. Use this CD during the installation of the serverto configure basic hardware features, such as an integrated SAS/SATA controllerwith RAID capabilities, and to simplify the installation of your operating system. For information about using this CD, see “Using the ServerGuide Setup andInstallation CD” on page 140.v Integrated management moduleUse the integrated management module II (IMM2) for configuration, to updatethe firmware and sensor data record/field replaceable unit (SDR/FRU) data, andto remotely manage a network. For information about using the IMM, see“Using the integrated management module” on page 150 and the IntegratedManagement Module II User's Guide at http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5089484..v VMware ESXi embedded hypervisorAn optional USB flash device with VMware ESXi embedded hypervisor softwareis available for purchase. Hypervisor is virtualization software that enablesmultiple operating systems to run on a host system at the same time. The USBembedded hypervisor flash device can be installed in USB connectors 3 and 4 onthe system board.
