12 IBM xSeries 130: User’s ReferenceTurning off the appliance serverTurning off the appliance server refers to the act of disconnecting the appliance serverfrom the power source.Statement 5CAUTION:The power control button on the device and the power switch on the powersupply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The devicealso might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical currentfrom the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the powersource.Complete the following steps to turn off the appliance server:1. Use UM Services to remotely shut down your appliance server. See “xSeries 130Configuration Tools” on page 17 for more information.2. Press the power-control button on the front of the appliance server. This will putthe appliance server into standby mode.3. Disconnect the appliance server from the power source.Note: After you turn off the appliance server, wait at least 5 seconds before youturn on the appliance server again.Standby modeStandby mode puts the appliance server into a wait state. When in a wait state, theappliance server is not running the operating system, and all core logic is shut down.Complete the following steps to put the appliance server into the standby mode:1.
