Chapter 6. Installing options 616. Install the DIMM in the connector.Attention: To prevent damage to the DIMM connectors, do not force thememory module into the connector.a. Turn the DIMM so that the index slots align correctly with the connector.Note: The DIMM has two index slots, one in the center and the other on theleft half of the DIMM connector edge.b. Insert the DIMM into the connector by pressing on both corners of the DIMMat the same time. Be sure to press straight into the connector.Note: When installing a memory module, be sure that no gap exists betweenthe DIMM and the retaining clips. If a gap does exist between thememory module and the retaining clips, remove the DIMM; then,reinsert the DIMM properly.Attention: To avoid breaking the retaining clips or damaging the DIMMconnectors, handle the clips gently.7. If you removed the adapter from PCI slot 2, reinstall it.Note: When you start the appliance server for the first time after adding memory,you must have a keyboard, monitor, and mouse connected to theappliance server. The system displays a message indicating that thememory configuration has changed.• If you installed additional memory, start the Configuration/Setup Utilityprogram, and select Save Settings. For more information see “Usingthe Configuration/Setup Utility program for the xSeries 130” on page22.• If you just replaced a failed DIMM, you must start theConfiguration/Setup Utility program, select Advanced Setup, selectMemory Settings, highlight the connector or bank of connectors thatyou want to enable, and then select Enable.8.
