20 IBM xSeries 130: User’s ReferenceChanging the language of the operating systemYou can change the language of the appliance server operating system using theMultiple Language User Interface CD that is included with the xSeries 130 applianceserver. Using this CD you can change the base operating-system language to anyone of the following languages:• English• Chinese (Simplified)• Chinese (Traditional)• French• German• Italian• Japanese• SpanishNote: The Multiple Language User Interface CD is provided by Microsoft andchanges the language of the base operating system only. Preinstalledapplications and documentation remain in English. Languages such asJapanese or Chinese might prompt you to insert the Windows 2000 AdvancedServer CD. If you are prompted to do this, insert the Supplementary CDinstead.To change the language of the operating system, do the following:1. Insert the Multiple Language User Interface CD into the CD-ROM drive of theappliance server.2. Start a terminal services session on your remote workstation, and log in to theappliance server. Run setup.exe from the CD.3. When the Multi-Language User Interface Install window opens, click Install MUI.4. Read the notices and click OK. The contents of the CD are unencrypted anddecompressed to drive C. This takes a few minutes. The MultiLanguage FileInstallation window opens.5. Select the language that you want to install on the xSeries 130 appliance server.At the bottom of the window, change the default language to correspond to thelanguage you select.6. Click OK. After a few seconds, an Installation Complete message is displayed.Click OK.7. A MUISETUP window opens, stating that changes do not occur until you log offand log back on. Click OK. When you are prompted to delete the MUI files for thexSeries 130 appliance server, click Yes.
