Install all options before reinstalling the cover on the appliance server.Installing hard disk drivesYour appliance server supports two 26 mm (1-in.), slim, 3.5-inch hard disk drives.Model 8654 appliance servers support SCSI hard disk drives, while model 8672appliance servers support IDE hard disk drives. Before you install a hard disk drive,review the following:• Inspect the drive or drive tray for any signs of damage.• To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the appliance server for morethan 2 minutes without either a drive or a filler panel installed in each bay.• Review the information in “Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 50.• Check the instructions that come with the drive for more information aboutinstalling your drive.Installing a SCSI hard disk drive in the model 8654Complete the following steps to install a SCSI hard disk drive in the model 8654:1.
