26 IBM xSeries 130: User’s Reference— Memory SettingsSelect this choice to manually disable or enable a bank of memory.If a memory error is detected during POST or memory configuration, theappliance server can automatically disable the failing memory bank andcontinue operating with reduced memory capacity. If this occurs, you mustmanually enable the memory bank after the problem is corrected. SelectMemory Settings from the Advanced Setup menu, use the arrow keys tohighlight the bank that you want to enable; then, use the arrow keys to selectEnable.• Error LogsSelect this choice to view or clear error logs.— Select POST Error Log to view the three most recent error codes andmessages that the system generated during POST.Select Clear error logs from the POST Error Log menu to clear the error log.— Select System Event/Error Log to view the System Event/Error log. Thesystem event/error log contains all the system error and warning messagesthat the system has generated. You can use the arrow keys to move betweenpages in the System Event/Error log.Select Clear error logs from the System Event/Error log menu to clear theerror or event log.• Save SettingsSelect this choice to save your customized settings.• Restore SettingsSelect this choice to delete your changes and restore the previous settings.• Load Default SettingsSelect this choice to discard your changes and restore the factory settings.• Exit SetupIf you have made any changes, the program will prompt you to save the changesor exit without saving the changes.Using passwordsThe System Security choice appears only on the full Configuration/Setup Utilitymenu. After you select this choice, you can implement two levels of passwordprotection: power-on password and administrator password.Power-on passwordAfter you set a power-on password, you can enable the unattended-start mode. Thislocks the keyboard and mouse, but enables the system to start the operating system.The keyboard and mouse remain locked until you type the correct password.You can use any combination of up to seven characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, and blanks)for your power-on password. Keep a record of your password in a secure place. Ifyou forget the power-on password, you can regain access to the appliance serverthrough one of the following methods:• If an administrator password is set, type the administrator password at the power-on prompt. Start the Configuration/Setup Utility program, and change the power-on password.• Change the position of the password override switch or clear CMOS jumper.• Remove the battery and then install the battery.
