We recommend that the probe's further downward movement be blocked once thedesired height has been reached. The positioning commands can be deactivated in theChipScan-Scanner software under Settings -> Scanner -> Vertical Motion for thispurpose.Figure 110: Prism for observation of the vertical distance between probe tip and DUTEstimating the Duration of a Measurement with the FLS 10619.3ScannerNumber of Measuring Points19.3.1The duration of a measurement with the scanner increases linearly with the number of themeasuring points set.Travel Distance19.3.2The smaller the distance between two adjacent measuring points, the less time it takes to travelbetween the measuring points.Sweep Time19.3.3The larger the sweep time of the spectrum analyzer, the longer the measurement takes. It shouldbe noted that the sweep time alone is a multiple of the time required for travelling and transmittingthe measurement curve. This may take several seconds, especially if the span to be shown is largeand the resolution bandwidth is small, it may take several seconds. In addition, the sweep time ismultiplied by the value set at Average Count if Average is used.Transmission Time19.3.4The time for the transmission of a measurement curve from the spectrum analyzer to thecomputer mainly depends on which transmission interface is used. The transmission of ameasurement curve with 1000 measuring points only takes a few milliseconds if a GPIB or VXIis used. In contrast, the transmission takes several seconds if the RS232 interface with a smallbaud rate is used.
