Before washing the machine, block off theend of the exhaust pipe to prevent waterfrom entering. A plastic bag secured with arubber band may be used for this purpose.2. If the engine is excessively greasy, applysome degreaser to it with a paint brush. Donot apply degreaser to the chain, sprockets,or wheel axles.3. Rinse the dirt and degreaser off with a gar-den hose; use only enough pressure to dothe job.cCExcessive hose pressure may cause waterseepage and contamination of wheel bear-ings, front forks, brakes and transmissionseals. Many expensive repair bills haveresulted from improper high pressuredetergent applications such as those avail-able in coin-operated car washers.4. After the majority of the dirt has been hosedoff, wash all surfaces with warm water and amild detergent. Use an old toothbrush toclean hard-to-reach places.5. Rinse the machine off immediately withclean water, and dry all surfaces with a softtowel or cloth.6. Immediately after washing, remove excesswater from the chain with a paper towel andlubricate the chain to prevent rust.7. Clean the seat with a vinyl upholstery clean-er to keep the cover pliable and glossy.8. Automotive wax may be applied to all paint-ed or chromed surfaces. Avoid combinationcleaner-waxes, as they may contain abra-sives.9. After completing the above, start the engineand allow it to idle for several minutes.
