Align:• “K” mark “a” on the pickup rotor(with the crankcase mating surface “b”)ECA14B1034When turning the crankshaft with a tool,remove all the spark plugs.▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼a. Turn the crankshaft clockwise.b. When piston #1 is at BTDC 105° on thecompression stroke, align the “K” mark “a”on the pickup rotor with the crankcase mat-ing surface “b”.TIPYou can check that the #1 piston is at BTDC105° by checking to see that the intake cam-shaft sprocket timing mark “c” and exhaustcamshaft sprocket timing mark “d” are alignedwith the cylinder head surface “e”.▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲3. Remove:• Timing chain tensioner “1”• Gasket4. Remove:• Camshaft caps “1”ECA13720To prevent damage to the cylinder head,camshafts or camshaft caps, loosen thecamshaft cap bolts in stages and in a criss-cross pattern, working from the outside in.5. Remove:• Intake camshaft “1”• Exhaust camshaft “2”6.
