Low-Speed DeactivationIf your speed falls below 20 mph (32 km/h) whilefollowing a vehicle ahead, Adaptive Cruise Controlwill begin to disengage. The driver alert symbolon the HUD will flash and the warning beepwill sound. The driver must take action sinceAdaptive Cruise Control will not slow the vehicleto a stop.Deactivation When Head-Up Display isTurned OffIf you turn the HUD off when Adaptive CruiseControl is engaged, it will begin to disengage. Awarning beep will sound and the message RADARCRUISE NOT READY will appear on the DriverInformation Center (DIC). See DIC Warningsand Messages on page 264 for additionalinformation. If Adaptive Cruise Control was brakingwhen the HUD is turned off, the braking willcontinue briefly.Passing a Vehicle/Adaptive CruiseControl OverrideIf you need to increase speed to pass a vehicle, usethe accelerator pedal. While you are doing this, thesystem will not automatically apply the brakes. APEDAL APPLIED ACC OVERRIDE message willappear on the HUD. See Head-Up Display (HUD)on page 223 for additional information. Once youpass the vehicle and remove your foot from theaccelerator pedal, Adaptive Cruise Control willreturn to normal operation and be able to apply thebrakes, if needed.{CAUTION:If you rest your foot on the acceleratorpedal, the system will not automaticallyapply the brakes. You could crash into avehicle ahead of you. Do not rest yourfoot on the accelerator pedal when usingAdaptive Cruise Control.207
