Itmust be replaced after a collision.Let only qualified technicians workon the air bag system.Some components of the air bagmodule may be hot for severalminutes. However, the parts of theair bag that come into contactwith you may be warm, but nottoo hot to touch.In many severe crashes, wind-shields are broken by vehicledeformation. Additional wind-shield breakage may also occurfrom the inflation of the frontpassenger air bag.NOTICEDo not damage the air bagcovers.If you damage the covers, theair bag may not work properly.If an air bag cover is damaged,you may have to replace the airbag module or both themodule and the air bag cover.Do not open or break the airbag coverings.CAUTIONFor up to ten seconds after theignition is turned off and thebattery is disconnected, an airbag can still inflate duringimproper service.If you are too close to an inflat-ing air bag, it could seriouslyinjure you.Avoid yellow connectors.Be sure that you or the personperforming work is qualifiedand follows proper procedures.$10araCTS Page 223 Tuesday, September 15, 2009 12:30 PM
