1.6.3 Brake testingWhen to testDuring operation, the holding brake of each axis normally wears down. A test canbe performed to determine whether the brake can still perform its function.How to testThe function of the holding brake of each axis motor may be verified as describedbelow:1 Run each axis to a position where the combined weight of the manipulatorand any load is maximized (maximum static load).2 Switch the motor to the MOTORS OFF.3 Inspect and verify that the axis maintains its position.If the manipulator does not change position as the motors are switched off,then the brake function is adequate.NoteIt is recommended to run the service routine BrakeCheck as part of the regularmaintenance, see the operating manual for the robot controller.For robots with the option SafeMove, the Cyclic Brake Check routine isrecommended.
