15 Problem Solving366Common ProblemsIf you are experiencing difficulties using the machine, check the suggestions in thefollowing tables for advice. If this does not remedy the problem, refer toFault ClearanceProcedure on page 349.Symptom RecommendationThe machine will not power on. • Check the power cord.• Check that the power switch is in the ONposition.• Check that the RESET button on the backof the machine is not in the tripped(popped up) position. Push the button toreset.• Check that the AC outlet is supplyingvoltage. Connect another appliance to theoutlet to verify the voltage supply.The document will not feed through thedocument feeder.• Check that the document feeder is notoverloaded. The document feeder canhold a maximum of 50 sheets.• Check that the document is fully insertedinto the document feeder.The machine does not display the HighCapacity Tandem Tray (or one of the papertrays) as one of the Paper Supply selections.• Check that no paper trays are open. If atray is ajar, the machine cannot sense itsconnection.• Open and close each paper tray and theHigh Capacity Tandem Tray. If this doesnot rectify the problem, then power themachine off and then on.The machine does not display the finisheroptions.• Check that the cables from the finisher aresecurely connected to the machine.• Slide the Finisher into its correct position.• The machine configures itself whenadditional options are attached.The machine does not accept documents intomemory.• Check with the System Administratorabout available memory.• If memory is almost full, print and deleteunnecessary files.The machine displays a memory full errormessage.• Check with the System Administratorabout available memory.• Divide the remaining pages of the job intoseveral small jobs and run the job again.The machine displays a tray fault. • Follow the steps below.1.
