FRONT FORK4-70j. Remove the rod puller and rod pullerattachment.k. Install the nut “1” all the way onto thedamper rod assembly.l. Install the damper adjusting valve spring,the damper adjusting valve and the damperadjusting rod.m. Install the washer and cap bolt, and thenfinger tighten the cap bolt.n. Hold the nut “1” and tighten the spring pre-load adjusting bolt “2” into the cap bolt tospecification.WARNINGEWA14B1011Always use a new cap bolt O-ring.ECA14B1009When tightening the spring preload adjust-ing bolt “2” into the cap bolt, be sure not tobreak the projections “a” on the cap boltcollar “3”.TIPHold the nut “1” using a proper tool that has athickness “b” of 4.0 mm (0.16 in) or less.o. Remove the rod holder and fork springcompressor.▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲16. Install:• Cap bolt(to the outer tube)TIP• Temporarily tighten the cap bolt.• When to tighten the cap bolt to the specifiedtorque is after installing the front fork leg tothe vehicle and tightening the lower bracketpinch bolts.EAS14B1009INSTALLING THE FRONT FORK LEGSThe following procedure applies to both of thefront fork legs.1. Install:• Front fork legTemporarily tighten the upper and lowerbracket pinch bolts.WARNINGEWA14B1012Make sure the brake hoses are routed prop-erly.TIPMake sure the outer tube is flush with the topof the upper bracket.2. Tighten:• Lower bracket pinch bolts “1” and “2”TIPTighten each bolt to 23 Nm (2.3 m·kgf, 17 ft·lbf)in the order pinch bolt “1” → pinch bolt “2” →pinch bolt “1” → pinch bolt “2”.Nut and cap bolt25 Nm (2.5 m·kgf, 18 ft·lbf)Lower bracket pinch bolt23 Nm (2.3 m·kgf, 17 ft·lbf)
