STARTER CLUTCH5-40EAS24560REMOVING THE STARTER CLUTCH1. Remove:• Starter clutch bolt “1”TIP• While holding the clutch housing assembly“2” with the sheave holder “3”, remove thestarter clutch bolt.• Fix the flat surface of the clutch housingassembly with the sheave holder.EAS24570CHECKING THE STARTER CLUTCH1. Check:• Starter clutch rollers “1”Damage/wear → Replace.2. Check:• Starter clutch gear “1”• Starter idle gear “2”Burrs/chips/roughness/wear → Replacethe defective part(s).3. Check:• Starter clutch gear’s contacting surfacesDamage/pitting/wear → Replace thestarter clutch gear.4. Check:• Starter clutch operation▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼a. Install the starter clutch gear “1” onto theclutch housing assembly “2” and hold theclutch housing assembly.b. When turning the starter clutch gear clock-wise “A”, the starter clutch and the starterclutch gear should engage, otherwise thestarter clutch is faulty and must bereplaced.c.
