SWINGARM4-82EAS23350REMOVING THE SWINGARM1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.WARNINGEWA13120Securely support the vehicle so that thereis no danger of it falling over.TIPPlace the vehicle on a suitable stand so thatthe rear wheel is elevated.2. Remove:• Connecting arm and swingarm bolt “1”• Relay arm bolt “2”• Rear shock absorber assembly lower bolt“3”TIPWhen removing the connecting arm andswingarm bolt, hold the swingarm so that itdoes not drop down.3. Measure:• Swingarm side play• Swingarm vertical movement▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼a. Measure the tightening torque of the pivotshaft nut, pivot shaft ring nut, and pivotshaft.b. Measure the swingarm side play “A” bymoving the swingarm from side to side.c. If the swingarm side play is out of specifica-tion, check the spacer, bearings, collar anddust cover.d. Check the swingarm vertical movement “B”by moving the swingarm up and down.If swingarm vertical movement is notsmooth or if there is binding, check thespacer, bearings, collar and dust cover.▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲4. Remove:• Drive chainRefer to “REMOVING THE DRIVECHAIN” on page 4-86.5. Remove:• Pivot shaft nut• Pivot shaft ring nut “1”TIPLoosen the pivot shaft ring nut with the ring nutwrench “2”.6. Remove:• Pivot shaft “1”TIPLoosen the pivot shaft with the damper rodholder (22 mm) “2”.Pivot shaft nut105 Nm (10.5 m·kgf, 75 ft·lbf)Pivot shaft ring nut65 Nm (6.5 m·kgf, 47 ft·lbf)Pivot shaft7 Nm (0.7 m·kgf, 5.1 ft·lbf)Swingarm side play (at the endof the swingarm)1.0 mm (0.04 in)Ring nut wrench90890-01507YM-01507
