CAMSHAFTS5-22b. Keep pressing the timing chain tensionerrod, mount clip “5” into groove “6”, and lockthe timing chain tensioner rod.c. In the status of step “b”, install the rodassembly in the cylinder block.TIPAlways use a new gasket.d. Unlock the timing chain tensioner by turn-ing the crankshaft counterclockwise, andtension the timing chain.▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲10. Turn:• Crankshaft(several turns clockwise)ECA14B1034When turning the crankshaft with a tool,remove all the spark plugs.11. Check:• “K” mark “a”Make sure the “K” mark on the pickuprotor is aligned with the crankcase matingsurface “b”.• Camshaft sprocket timing mark “c”Make sure the punch mark “c” on thecamshaft sprocket is aligned with the cyl-inder head mating surface “d”.Out of alignment → Adjust.Refer to the installation steps above.12. Measure:• Valve clearanceOut of specification → Adjust.Refer to “ADJUSTING THE VALVECLEARANCE” on page 3-5.13. Install:• Pickup coil rotor cover 2Refer to “PICKUP ROTOR” on page 5-42.14. Install:• Cylinder head cover gasket• Cylinder head coverTIP• Apply bond TB1541C® “1” onto the matingsurfaces of the cylinder head cover and cylin-der head cover gasket.• Apply bond Yamaha bond No.1215 (Threebond No.1215®) “2” onto the mating surfacesof the cylinder head cover gasket and cylin-der head.3.
