THROTTLE BODIES7-15EAS14B1108CHECKING THE PRIMARY INJECTORS(BEFORE REMOVING)1. Check:• InjectorsUse the diagnostic code number “D:36–D:39”.Refer to “DIAGNOSTIC MODE” on page8-38.EAS14B1109REMOVING THE PRIMARY INJECTORSWARNINGEWA14B1028• Check the injectors in a well-ventilatedarea free of combustible materials. Makesure that there is no smoking or use ofelectric tools in the vicinity of the injec-tors.• Be careful when disconnecting the fuelhoses. Any remaining pressure in the fuelhoses may cause the fuel to spray out.Place a container or rag under the hosesto catch any fuel that spills. Always cleanup any spilt fuel immediately.• Turn the main switch to “OFF” and dis-connect the negative battery lead fromthe battery terminal before checking theinjectors.1. Remove:• Fuel tank• Fuel hoses• Air filter case• Throttle bodies2. Remove:• Sub-wire harness• Primary injectors▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼a. Check:• InjectorsObstruction → Replace and check thefuel pump/fuel supply system.Deposit → Replace.Damage → Replace.2. Check:• Injector resistanceRefer to “CHECKING THE FUEL INJEC-TORS” on page 8-148.EAS14B1072CHECKING AND CLEANING THE THROT-TLE BODIESTIPBefore cleaning the throttle bodies, check thefollowing items:• Valve clearance• Spark plugs• Air filter element• Throttle body joints• Fuel hoses• Air induction system• Exhaust system• Breather hoses• Vacuum hoseWARNINGEWA14B1021• If the throttle bodies are subjected tostrong shocks or dropped during clean-ing, replace them as a set.• Before removing the throttle bodies toclean them, check the operation of thethrottle bodies, refer to “FUEL INJECTIONSYSTEM” on page 8-33.1. Check:• Throttle bodiesCracks/damage → Replace the throttlebodies as a set.
