1 Safety1.2.3.3. Safe use of the FlexPendant3HAC040633-002 Revision: -161.2.3.3. Safe use of the FlexPendantNOTE!The enabling device is a push-button located on the side of the FlexPendant which, whenpressed half way in, takes the system to MOTORS ON. When the enabling device is releasedor pushed all the way in, the manipulator is taken to the MOTORS OFF state. To ensure safe use of the FlexPendant, the following must be implemented:• The enabling device must never be rendered inoperative in any way. Duringprogramming and testing, the enabling device must be released as soon as there is noneed for the manipulator to move. The programmer must always bring theFlexPendant with them, when entering the manipulator's working space. This is toprevent anyone else taking control of the manipulator without the programmer beingaware of it.Enabling deviceThe enabling device is a manually operated constant pressure push-button which, whencontinuously activated in one position only, allows potentially hazardous functions but doesnot initiate them. In any other position, hazardous functions are stopped safely. The enablingdevice is of a specific type where you must press the push-button only half-way to activate it.In the fully in and fully out positions, manipulator operation is impossible.Hold-to-run functionThe hold-to-run function allows movement when a button connected to the function isactuated manually, and immediately stops any movement when released. The hold-to-runfunction can only be used in manual mode. How to operate the hold-to-run function isdetailed in the Operating manual - IRC5 with FlexPendant.
