AD 33-855-4 Page 63SECTION 12 DETAILED WIRING OFHARNESSES AND RELATEDCOMPONENTS12.1 Sensor Harness WiringTo cover both 3 and 4 wire system applications, the Sensor Harness includes two wires to permitthe 4th wire connection. These two wires (one tanand one green) are readily identifiable; they are thelongest two wires that protrude from the Sensorend of the harness. Determine the applicablewiring diagram (Figure 12-1 , 12-2, 12-3 and 12-4)for your application, and pedorm the following.1 . lf the retrofit is for a 3-wire system (Figure 1 2-1or 12-2), the wires provided for the 4th wireconnection are not needed. Remove theterminals from the long ends of the green andtan wires, then use an Ohm meter to confirmthe other ends and remove them by slidingthem out of the harness.2. lf the retrofit is for a 4-wire system (Figure 12-3or 12-4,) the green and tan wires provided forthe fourth connection are required forconnection to an open set of BreakerSecondary Contacts.3. ln describing the Sensor Polarity, the"Common" is the Green Wire, and the "Dot" isthe Polarity Mark, usually located near the X1terminal on the Sensor.Table 12-'l Power Flow ConventionsTable 12-1 should be consulted to determinethe proper arrangement to allow the Trip Unit toread power properly. ln all cases shown, theCurrent Sensors are mounted with the SensorNameplates facing out so that they can be readwith the Sensor installed on the Breaker.NOTE: For 4-wire grounded systems, the Breakerand Cell Secondary Contacts are notincluded in the kit. These items must beordered separately from the OriginalEquipment Manufacturer. The 4th Sensorfor the Switchgear neutral is included whenordered with the Retrofit kit. The 4thSensor is mounted on the neutral bus bar.It is the responsibility of the Retrofitter tolocate an appropriate place to mount the4th Sensor and to insure proper Breakeroperation.12.2 Auxiliary CT Harness WiringFigure 12-5 shows the detailed wiring connectionsfor the Auxiliary CT Harness.12.3 Auxiliary CT Module WiringFigure 12-6 shows the detailed wiring for theAuxiliary CT Module.Power Flow Sensor Mounting Sensor PolarityTop to Bottom Top Common (Green Wire) AWAY FROM Dot (Xl)Top to Bottom Bottom Common (Green Wire) ON Dot (X1)Bottom to Top Top Common (Green Wire) ON Dot (Xl)Bottom to Top Bottom Common (Green Wire) AWAY FROM Dot (Xl)Effective 9/01 E:T.il
