A maximum of five designatedeCAPs can be installed in a Modular ICS system. The systemcan support more CAP configurations that are not designatedin programming as eCAPs. Refer to the Tips below forinformation about the difference between OKIMs and eKIMs.• Key indicator modules (KIMs). KIMs that are attached to7316E digital phones that have been designated as eCAPsare called eKIMs.A 7316E+KIM which is not assigned with the DN of thetelephone under CAP/KIM assgn, is called an ordinaryKIM (OKIM). OKims support memory buttonprogramming, only.• Legacy hardware: Existing systems may have 7324 digitalphones attached to CAP modules.The eCAP can be used to:• monitor the busy/not busy and Do Not Disturb status ofsystem telephones• answer external calls on up to112 lines on a 7316E+eKIMand extend calls to other system telephones• send up to 30 messages to other system telephones• provide extra memory buttons for the telephones• eKIMs can also support multiple appearances of a targetlines and Hunt group designators.Use ≠, CHANGE and the dialpad to enter the internalnumber of the telephone.
