594 / Problems with telephonesModular ICS 7.1 Installer Guide N0130943 02Status of a telephone that was replacedThe old telephone that was unplugged and replaced by a newtelephone loses its programming and internal number. Theinternal number of the old telephone has been given to the newtelephone. The programming has either been removed or givento the new telephone when it was plugged into the old jack.The replaced telephone, if it is plugged back into the system,is now treated by the system as a telephone not previously inservice.Emergency telephone dead1. Verify that the power at the ICS or Trunk Module is not on.2. Verify that the trunk module allows support for emergencytelephones. Refer to Emergency telephone on page 291.3. Verify that there is no dial tone at the emergencytelephone.4. Check that the external line and emergency telephoneconnections have been made correctly.5. Ensure that the emergency telephone is not faulty byconnecting it directly to the external line and listening fordial tone.6. Verify that the ICS has a Loop Start Trunk Cartridgeinstalled in slot 4. Verify that the Trunk Module has a LoopStart Trunk Cartridge installed in the left-most slot.Note - 7316 and 7316E digital phones havedifferent default settings on systems running MICS 6.0and newer software. Therefore, if you replace one typewith the other, all user-programmed settings are lostand the line numbering changes to reflect the defaultnumbering for the new telephone.
