Chapter 4: Virtual Media65Prerequisites for Using Virtual MediaKX II-101-V2 Virtual Media Prerequisites For users requiring access to virtual media, the KX II-101-V2permissions must be set to allow access to the relevant ports, as wellas virtual media access (VM Access port permission) for those ports.Port permissions are set at the group-level. A USB connection must exist between the device and the targetserver. If you want to use PC-Share, Security Settings must also be enabledin the Security Settings page. Optional You must choose the correct USB profile for the KVM target serveryou are connecting to.Remote PC VM Prerequisites Certain virtual media options require administrative privileges on theremote PC (for example, drive redirection of complete drives).Note: If you are using Microsoft Vista or Windows 7, disable UserAccount Control or select Run as Administrator when startingInternet Explorer. To do this, click the Start Menu, locate IE, right-click and select Run as Administrator.Target Server VM Prerequisites KVM target servers must support USB connected drives. KVM target servers running Windows 2000 must have all of therecent patches installed. USB 2.0 ports are both faster and preferred.Mounting Local DrivesThis option mounts an entire drive, which means the entire disk drive ismounted virtually onto the target server.Use this option for hard drives and external drives only. It does notinclude network drives, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM drives.
