9 Arc Welding Application9.3 Function Outlines9-9149235-1CDRE-CSO-A0319.3.5 Arc Restart FunctionWhen the manipulator stops because of an arc failure, a simple start would leave a break in the weldingline. This is prevented by using the arc restart function. When the arc restart function is executed, the manipulator is restarted using the method specified in theArc Auxiliary Condition File*1. There are three methods to restart the manipulator after an arc failure:*1 The arc auxiliary condition file defines the following: current, voltage and speed atrestart; method of restart after a gas shortage or wire shortage.*2 The overlap length (the length of the section where welding is repeated after a restart)can be set as desired (0 to 99.9mm).• With the arc OFF the controller outputs an error signaland the message “RESTARTING FOR ARC,” butcontinues manipulator’s movement. After exiting thearc section, the controller outputs the message “ENDOF ARC RESTARTING,” and continues the operation.• With the arc ON trial, the manipulator automaticallyreturns for the specified overlap length*2, and thencontinues welding.• The manipulator stops and waits for a manualintervention. After intervention (), the operatorshould return the manipulator to the original stopposition (). And then press [START] again. Themanipulator returns for the specified overlap length*2() and continues the work.A cursor operation resets the “restarting” status. Therefore, the arc restart function cannotbe executed after the cursor operation.O v e r l a p l e n g t hNOTE352 of 493
