– 77 –ENGMIDDLE GEARWhere:e = a numeral (usually a decimal number)on the bearing housing is either addedto or subtracted from “76”.f = a numeral (usually a decimal number)on the middle driven pinion gear iseither added to or subtracted from “59”.g = a numeral (usually a decimal number)on the middle driven pinion gear iseither added to or subtracted from“79.5”.h = a numeral (usually a decimal number)on the left crankcase specifies athickness of “72.01”.i = a numeral (usually a decimal number)on the right crankcase specifies athickness of “23.87”.Example:1) If the bearing housing is marked “+02”,..... e is 76.02.2) If the driven pinion gear is marked “+02”,..... f is 59.02.3) If the driven pinion gear is marked “+02”,..... g is 79.52.4) If the crankcase (left) is marked “72.01”,..... h is 72.01.5) If the crankcase (left) is marked “23.87”,..... i is 23.87.6) Therefore, the shim thickness is 0.64 mm.B = 76.02 – 59.02 + 79.52 – 72.01 – 23.87 – 0.05= 0.647) Round off hundredths digit and selectappropriate shim(s).In the example above, the calculated shimthickness is 0.64 mm.
