LIGHTING 1512 : Turns on the headlamps togetherwith the parking lamps andinstrument panel lights.IntelliBeam ® SystemIf equipped, this system turns thevehicle's high-beam headlamps on andoff according to surrounding trafficconditions.The system turns the high-beamheadlamps on when it is dark enoughand there is no other traffic present.This light comes on in the instrumentcluster when the IntelliBeam systemis enabled.Turning On and Enabling IntelliBeamTo enable the IntelliBeam system,with the turn signal lever in theneutral position, turn the exteriorlamp control to AUTO. The bluehigh-beam on light appears on theinstrument cluster when the highbeams are on.Driving with IntelliBeamThe system only activates the highbeams when driving over 40 km/h(25 mph).There is a sensor near the top centerof the windshield, which automaticallycontrols the system. Keep this area ofthe windshield clear of debris to allowfor best system performance.The high-beam headlamps remain on,under the automatic control, until oneof the following situations occurs:. The system detects anapproaching vehicle's headlamps.. The system detects a precedingvehicle's taillamps.. The outside light is bright enoughthat high-beam headlamps are notrequired.. The vehicle's speed drops below20 km/h (12 mph).. The Intellibeam system is disabledby the high/low-beam changer orthe flash-to-pass feature. If thishappens, the high/low-beamchanger must be activated twotimes within two seconds toreactivate the Intellibeam system.The instrument cluster light willcome on to indicate theIntellibeam system is reactivated.See Headlamp High/Low-BeamChanger 0 152 and Flash-to-Pass0 152.The high beams may not turn offautomatically if the system cannotdetect other vehicle's lamps becauseof any of the following:. The other vehicle's lamp(s) aremissing, damaged, obstructed fromview, or otherwise undetected.. The other vehicle's lamp(s) arecovered with dirt, snow, and/orroad spray.. The other vehicle's lamp(s) cannotbe detected due to dense exhaust,smoke, fog, snow, road spray, mist,or other airborne obstructions.. Your vehicle's windshield is dirty,cracked, or obstructed bysomething that blocks the view ofthe light sensor.
