Discharged Battery RemoteNegative Ground TerminalThe jump start positive terminal (1)and negative post (2) are on thebattery of the vehicle providing thejump start.The jump start remote positiveterminal (3) and the remote negativeground terminal (4) for the dischargedbattery are on the passenger side ofthe vehicle.The positive jump start connection forthe discharged battery is under a redcover. Remove the cover to expose theterminal.1. Check the other vehicle. It musthave a 12-volt battery with anegative ground system.CautionIf the other vehicle does not have a12-volt system with a negativeground, both vehicles can bedamaged. Only use a vehicle thathas a 12-volt system with anegative ground for jump starting.2. Position the two vehicles so thatthey are not touching.3. Set the parking brake firmly andput the shift lever in P (Park)with an automatic transmission,or Neutral with a manualtransmission.CautionIf any accessories are left on orplugged in during the jump startingprocedure, they could be damaged.The repairs would not be coveredby the vehicle warranty. Wheneverpossible, turn off or unplug allaccessories on either vehicle whenjump starting.4. Turn the ignition off. Turn off alllights and accessories in bothvehicles, except the hazardwarning flashers if needed.{ WarningAn electric fan can start up evenwhen the engine is not running andcan injure you. Keep hands,clothing, and tools away from anyunderhood electric fan.
