You can also review the status of each device andconfigure button mappings for NBX telephones.Adding a NewTelephoneYou can configure a new telephone in two ways: using Auto Discovery ormanually.■ Auto Discovery method — Auto Discovery is the simplest and mostcommon method of adding a new telephone. When you enable AutoDiscovery and then connect a new NBX Telephone to the LAN, thenew telephone receives the next lowest available extension number,which appears on the telephone’s display panel, and a default set ofproperties.■ Manual method — You can disable Auto Discovery and configuretelephones manually using the NBX NetSet utility. However, if youhave many telephones to configure, manual configuration can be atedious and error-prone process.For either method of adding a telephone, you must connect thetelephone to the network. If you use Auto Discovery, enable the AutoDiscover Telephones check box before you connect the telephone. If youadd a telephone manually, it does not matter whether you connect thetelephone before or after you use the NBX NetSet utility to add it.Connecting the TelephoneInstructions for connecting the phone to power and the network dependon your power source and the type of telephone. See Chapter 3 in theNBX Installation Guide or the telephone packing sheet for telephoneconnection information.Adding a New Telephone Using Auto DiscoveryBefore you enable Auto Discovery, verify that a 3-digit or 4-digit dial planis installed on the Network Call Processor and that you have specified astarting extension. See the NBX Installation Guide.To add a new telephone using Auto Discovery:1 Select System Configuration > System Settings tab.2 Click System-wide. The System Settings dialog box appears.3 Optionally, clear all check boxes associated with autodiscovering devices.
