You must enter a license key through the NBX NetSet utilitybefore you can configure and use VPIM.The NBX system transmits VPIM voice mail messages by attaching themto e-mail messages. The system then uses SMTP (Simple Mail TransferProtocol) or ESMTP (Extended Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) to send thee-mail message and its VPIM attachment.Using VPIM, users on an NBX system can send voice mail to a user on anyvoice mail system that is VPIM-compliant.Using the NBX NetSet utility, you can configure several VPIM parametersand check VPIM status. Configure the firewall to allow access to port 25 on the NBXsystem only from valid VPIM systems that need to deliver VPIM messagesto the phone system. The NBX SMTP server is started only when thesystem has a valid license for VPIM.
