4. Operation4.2 Operating modes of the easyE44.2 Operating modes of the easyE4A easyE4 device recognizes operating modes RUN, STOP and BUSY.4.2.1 RUN modeIn RUN mode, the program stored on the device will be executed immediatelyafter the device is switched on and will continue to be executed until you select STOP, asystem fault occurs, or the supply voltage is switched off.The outputs will be driven based on the relevant switch logic. The parameter values willbe retained in the event of a power failure, and all you will need to do is reset the real-time clock in the event that the backup time elapses. In RUN operating mode:l the process image of the inputs are read.l The program is executed.l The NET is run (Ethernet, web server, and Modbus TCP).l the process image of the outputs is transferred to the physical outputs. The easyE4 devices with a display do not start with RUN mode if you deactivate theRUN MODE startup behavior.easyE4 devices with LED indicators have a different startup behavior. On them, theRUN START and CARD START functions will be enabled automatically, as manuallystarting the device is not possible. For more information on the CARD START function, please refer to → Section "Settingthe startup behavior", page 4664.2.2 STOP modeWhen the device is in STOP mode, the program will not be executed. In order to be ableto do programming on the circuit diagram, modify system parameters, or configure com-munications, the device must be in this operating mode.In addition, the program can be stored on the memory card or be loaded from it whilethe device is in this mode.WARNING! AUTOMATIC STARTUP!Configure your machine/plant so that the automatic starting of theeasyE4 device never causes unintentional starting of the machine/plantconcerned.Create your program in such a way that a defined and safe startup pro-cedure is always provided after the power supply is switched on.easyE4 11/18 MN050009 EN www.eaton.com 91
