Configuring WSS System Parameters 161Nortel WLAN—Management Software 2300 Series Reference GuideCreating a WSS Using the Create WLAN—Security Switch Wizard1 Select the Configuration tool bar option.2 In the Organizer panel, select the network plan name.3 In the Task List panel, select Create WLAN—Security Switch.4 Go to “Using the Create WLAN—Security Switch Wizard” (page 164).Creating a New WSS Based on a Configured Switch in the Network PlanYou can copy and modify a switch that is already in the network plan, by copying and pasting the switch in theOrganizer panel.1 Select the Configuration tool bar option.2 In the Organizer panel, select the switch you want to copy, then right-click on the switch and select Copy.3 Right-click and select Paste. The WLAN—Security Switch Properties wizard appears.4 In the WSS Name box, type the name of the WSS (1 to 256 alphanumeric characters, with no spaces ortabs).5 Type the switch’s serial number in the Serial Number box.6 To modify the system IP address and VLAN, select them from the System VLAN/IP drop-down list.The system IP address determines the interface or source IP address WSS Software uses for system tasks,including the following:• Mobility Domain operations• Topology reporting for dual-homed APs• Default source IP address used in unsolicited communications such as AAA accounting reportsand SNMP notifications7 Click Management Interface.8 To enable the switch to be managed by WLAN Management Software, select Managed. Until this optionis selected, you cannot deploy the switch configuration you create in WLAN Management Software tothe actual switch in the network.Note. Within a network plan (and all Mobility Domains), each WSS must have aunique name.Note. This option also enables the Launch Telnet and Launch Browser optionsin the Task List panel.
