The AirDefense solution can be integrated with the Nortel WLAN 2300 System, comple-menting Nortel network security features by providing a centralized server dedicated to security analysis and recordkeeping.AirDefense sensors constantly monitor the network, relaying information to a central AirDefense server, which collectsand analyzes the information. WLAN Management Software can be configured to receive alert information from theAirDefense server.The Nortel WLAN 2300 System integrates with the AirDefense security solution in the following ways:• WLAN Management Software can be configured to receive SNMP traps from an AirDefense server. These trapscan be correlated to alarms in WLAN Management Software, and viewed and managed by clicking the Alarms toolbar option.• You can access the user interface of the AirDefense server directly from WLAN Management Software• Nortel Access Points can be configured to operate as AirDefense sensors, reporting information about possiblethreats or intrusions to an AirDefense serverConfiguring WLAN Management Software to Receive Traps from anAirDefense Server1 Select the Configuration tool bar option.2 In the Organizer panel, select the network plan name.3 In the Task List panel, select Set Up AirDefense. The Set Up AirDefense wizard appears.4 Enter the IP address of the AirDefense server.5 Enter the SNMP community string for the AirDefense server (by default, this is trap).6 To enable WLAN Management Software to correlate the traps received from the AirDefense server toWLAN Management Software alarms, select Enable Alarm Correlation.7 Click Finish.
