Configuring Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Parameters 285Nortel WLAN—Management Software 2300 Series Reference GuideViewing and Configuring RADIUS SettingsRemote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) is a client-server security protocol that provides authentication, authorization, and accounting for network users and devices. A RADIUS server stores user profiles, which include user-names, passwords, and other user attributes. After you have defined RADIUS servers, you define RADIUS servergroups (named sets of RADIUS servers). You must create at least one server group.RADIUS server groups can authenticate administrators and network users. You can specify up to four RADIUS servergroups for AAA services in a Nortel WLAN 2300 System. For information about the RADIUS attributes supported by WSS Software, see the Nortel WLAN Security Switch 2300Series Configuration Guide.vlan-name(network access modeonly)Virtual LAN (VLAN)assignment.Note: VLAN-Name is aNortel vendor-specificattribute (VSA). Thevendor ID is 562, and thevendor type is 241.Note: On some RADIUSservers, you might need touse the standard RADIUSattributeTunnel-Pvt-Group-ID,instead of VLAN-Name.Name of a VLAN that you want the user to use.The VLAN must be configured on a WSS withinthe Mobility Domain to which this WSS belongs.acct-interim-interval Interval in seconds betweenaccounting updates, ifaccounting is enabled andthe Start-Stop record type isspecified.Number between 180 and 3,600 seconds, or 0 todisable periodic accounting updates. The WSS ignores the acct-interim-interval valueand issues a log message if the value is below 60seconds.Note: If both a RADIUS server and the WSSsupply a value for the acct-interim-intervalattribute, then the value from the WSS takesprecedence.Note. Although you can use the local database on the WSS to authenticate users, Nortelrecommends using RADIUS to accommodate the large number of users in an enterprisenetwork.Table 1: Authentication Attributes for Local Users (continued)Attribute Description Valid Value(s)
