Working with Network Plans 73Nortel WLAN—Management Software 2300 Series Reference GuideLaunching the AirDefense Server User Interface1 Select the Configuration tool bar option.2 In the Organizer panel, select the network plan name.3 In the Task List panel, select Launch AirDefense UI.A Web browser opens, and establishes a connection to the AirDefense server specified in the Set UpAirDefense wizard.Converting DAPs to AirDefense Sensors1 Select the Configuration tool bar option.2 In the Organizer panel, select the network plan name.3 In the Task List panel, select Create AirDefense Sensor. The Create AirDefense Sensor wizard appears.4 Click Next. Transfer AirDefense Sensor Image page appears.On the Transfer AirDefense Sensor Image page, you can optionally specify an AirDefense sensorsoftware file to be transferred to one or more WSSs.The AirDefense sensor software file is the software that runs on the AP and allows it to operate as anAirDefense sensor. After the AirDefense sensor software file is transferred to a WSS, the file can be sentto one or more of the DAPs managed by the WSS.5 To transfer an AirDefense sensor software file, click Select a File and specify a file to be transferred.Regardless of the name of the file you choose, it will be saved on the WSSs with the name adconvert.bin.6 In the WSS List box, select each of the WSSs you want to transfer the AirDefense sensor software file to,then click Start Transfer. The AirDefense sensor software file is transferred to the selected WSSs.7 After the transfer is completed, click Next. A list of DAPs managed by the WSSs appears.8 Select the DAPs you want to convert to AirDefense sensors and click Next. A page indicating theprogress of the conversion appears.9 After the DAPs have been converted to AirDefense sensors, click Finish.Specifying the AirDefense Server as a Trap Receiver on WSSsThe WSSs in the network plan must be configured with the AirDefense server as a trap receiver for AP traps. To do this,perform the following steps for each WSS:1 Create a notification profile. See “Configuring a Notification Profile” (page 185) for the configurationsteps.In the notification profile, the two AP traps, APNonOperStatus and APOperRadioStatus, must beenabled.2 Create a notification target. See “Configuring a Notification Target” (page 185) for the configurationsteps.Note. A connection is established only if you had previously specified the IP address ofan AirDefense server in the Set Up AirDefense wizard.
