Configuring WSSs Remotely 319Nortel WLAN—Management Software 2300 Series Reference Guide5 WLAN Management Software finds a switch configuration that matches the model and WSSSoftware version and has a management interface in the same subnet as the new switch.WLAN Management Software also notices that the serial number of the new switch does notmatch the serial number in the switch configuration in WLAN Management Software.However, because the Auto-Config IP Subnet Matching option is enabled, WLANManagement Software does not reject the configuration request.Enabling Replacement of Remote SwitchesThis configuration task is performed by the network administrator using WLAN Management Software.To enable replacement of remote switches1 Open the network plan that contains the remote switches you want to allow to be replaced.2 Select Services > Setup from the menu bar in the main WLAN Management Software window.The WLAN Management Software Services Setup web page appears in your browser.3 Select Server Settings in the left column.4 Select Auto-Config IP Subnet Matching.5 Click Save at the bottom of the page.Replacing a SwitchThis task is performed by someone at the remote office and does not require a network administrator.Nortel recommends that you read through the entire procedure before beginning.To replace a switch1 Remove the power cord from the old switch.2 Unplug the network cables from the old switch.3 Plug the network cables into the new switch.4 Plug the power cord into the new switch.5 Perform this step only if the switch is a 2350 and was not prestaged by your networkadministrator.While the switch is powering on, insert a paperclip or similar object into the 2350’s factoryreset hole to press the factory reset switch.Note. If the cables are not already labeled to indicate the switch port numbersto which they are connected, you might want to label them before unpluggingthem.
