Connecting a VLT Domain to an Attached Access Device (Switch orServer)To connect a VLT domain to an attached access device, use the following commands. On a VLT peer switch: To connect to an attached device, configure the same port channel ID number on each peer switch in the VLTdomain.1 Configure the same port channel to be used to connect to an attached device and enter interface configuration mode.CONFIGURATION modeinterface port-channel id-number2 Remove an IP address from the interface.INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL modeno ip address3 Place the interface in Layer 2 mode.INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL modeswitchport4 Add one or more port interfaces to the port channel.INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL modechannel-member interfaceinterface: specify one of the following interface types:• For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword TenGigabitEthernet then the slot/port[/subport] information.• For a 40-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword fortyGigE then the slot/port information.5 Ensure that the port channel is active.INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL modeno shutdown6 Associate the port channel to the corresponding port channel in the VLT peer for the VLT connection to an attached device.INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL modevlt-peer-lag port-channel id-number7 Repeat Steps 1 to 6 on the VLT peer switch to configure the same port channel as part of the VLT domain.8 On an attached switch or server: To connect to the VLT domain and add port channels to it, configure a port channel. For an exampleof how to verify the port-channel configuration, refer to VLT Sample Configuration. To configure the VLAN where a VLT peer forwards received packets over the VLTi from an adjacent VLT peer that is down, use the peer-down-vlan parameter. When a VLT peer with BMP reboots, untagged DHCP discover packets are sent to the peer over the VLTi. Usingthis configuration ensures the DHCP discover packets are forwarded to the VLAN that has the DHCP server.Configuring a VLT VLAN Peer-Down (Optional)To configure a VLT VLAN peer-down, use the following commands.1 Enter VLT-domain configuration mode for a specified VLT domain.CONFIGURATION modevlt domain domain-id1000 Virtual Link Trunking (VLT)
