Hex Code PrintoutA hex code printout (or hex dump) lists each ASCII/EBCDIC data characterreceived from the host computer, along with its corresponding two-digithexadecimal code. Hex dumps can be used to troubleshoot some types of printerdata reception problems. To convert an ASCII/EBCDIC character to its corresponding hex code (orvice-versa), refer to the ASCII code chart in the 6500 ASCII Programmer’s ReferenceManual, or the EBCDIC code chart in the 6500 Coax/Twinax Programmer’s ReferenceManual. Each printable character prints both as its assigned symbol and as its hexequivalent. Each nonprintable character prints both as a period (.) and as its hexequivalent. When using a parallel interface, the letter “p” before a hex code indicates an activePaper Instruction (PI) line and a blank space before a hex code indicates aninactive PI line.Chapter 6.
