Reprogramming the Security KeyThe security key on the PSA3 controller board can be reprogrammed with aSoftware Program Exchange (SPX) module. The SPX is an intelligent module that plugs into the debug port on the back ofprinters equipped with the PSA3 “Hurricane” controller board. The SPX is usedonly once; it automatically overwrites itself after successfully reprogramming asecurity key. This allows the end user or a service technician to enable featuressuch as new emulations without having to remove covers and install a newsecurity key on the controller board. The SPX is used at power-up only and is not left in the printer during normaloperation. Because it is a single-use disposable item the user is not required toreturn it to the vendor or manufacturer.Chapter 3. Configuring the Printer 47
