8-2 Frame Relay Module 4.0 User Guide, Rev 01Required ConfigurationTo run a physical port as X.25, make sure the following are properly configured:l Node parameters, which is general configuration that must be done no matterwhich protocols will be run in the node. See Chapter 4.l RLPs that will contain the interface(s) to the user device(s), network and/orframe relay PVC, plus Line Interface Card(s) supporting the ports that will bethe interfaces. See Chapter 5.l Loaded Protocol(s): X.25 and any others that will be transmitted over thenetwork. See Chapter 5.l X.25 port(s) (see below) that will connect to the user device(s), network, and/orPVC(s).l Subscriber ID(s) (page 8-21), which identifiy user devices to each other and theFRM.Before configuring a logical X.25 port, make sure these are properly configured:l Protocol(s) that will be transmitted over the logical port. See Chapter 5.l Physical frame relay port on which the logical port will reside. See Chapter 6and Chapter 7.Configuring a Physical X.25 PortOnce the necessary Node and RLP parameters have been configured, press [A] at thePort Configuration Menu (or [A], [C], [A] from the Main Menu. When prompted, enter:l RLP containing the port: 0–2. (The default is 0.) (RLP locations are shown inFigure 6-1.)l Port: 0–7. (The default is 0.) (Port locations are shown in Figure 6-2.)The display for an existing port will show the configured parameter values, while thedisplay for a new port will show default database values (listed in tables on Table 8-1on page 8-7.) The following figure is an example of an existing port.
