Configuring the Ethernet controllerThis topic provides information about configuring the Ethernet controllers. The Ethernet controller provides an interface for connecting to a 1 Gbps or 10 Gbpsnetwork and provides full-duplex (FDX) capability, which enables simultaneoustransmission and reception of data on the network. If the Ethernet ports supportauto-negotiation, the controller detects the data-transfer rate (100BASE-T,1000BASE-T, or 10GBASE-T) and duplex mode (full-duplex or half-duplex) of thenetwork and automatically operate at that rate and mode. You do not have to set any jumpers or configure the controller. However, you mustinstall a device driver to enable the operating system to address the controller. Fordevice drivers and information about configuring the Ethernet controller, seehttp://www.ibm.com/supportportal/.Enabling Features on Demand Ethernet softwareThis topic provides information about enabling Features on Demand Ethernetsoftware. You can activate the Features on Demand (FoD) software upgrade key for FibreChannel over Ethernet (FCoE) and iSCSI storage protocols that is integrated in theintegrated management module. For more information and instructions foractivating the Features on Demand Ethernet software key, see the IBM Features onDemand User’s Guide at http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=migr-5089568.
