Page 60Chapter 8: Communications MenuLine Fail ResponseUse this option to specify how the system should respond when the control unit detects aline-fail fault from the plug-by communicator. The control unit monitors for line faults byusing the LF input on the plug-by port. The communicator should apply 0V to the LF inputif there is no fault, and 12Vdc if a fault is present.AudibleScantronic recommends audible response for line fault. If the system is unset, thesystem logs the event. Keypads and loudspeakers produce a short audible tone afterLine Fail Delay when the line response changes from OK to fail. Entering a validaccess code silences the tone and the display indicates a line fault. The system canbe set again with the line fault present. If the system is set, the control unit logs the event but does not give any tone ordisplay. The control unit cancels any programmed siren delay if the line is out oforder when an alarm occurs.SilentIf the system is unset, the keypad display indicates a line fault, the LEDs around thenavigation key glow red, and the control unit logs the event. The system may be setagain with the line fault present. If the system is set then the control unit does not give any indication or tone but doeslog the event. The control unit cancels any programmed siren delay if the line is outof order when an alarm occurs.DisabledThe control unit does not monitor the line.Line Fail DelayUse this option to specify the length of time the control unit waits after detecting a line-failfault on a communications path from the plug-by port before it generates an alert, activescommunications and activates line-fail outputs.Note: The control unit may take a few seconds to recognise a line fail. The actual delaybetween line fail and the resulting alert will be slightly longer than the value you specify.
