Clean the bearings, main journals, andbearing portions of the crankcase andcylinder block.2. Place the cylinder block upside down ona bench.3. Install half of the bearings 1 and thecrankshaft 2 into the cylinder block 3.4. Insert the projection a of the bearing intothe notch in the cylinder block.NOTE:Install the main bearings in their original posi-tions.5. Put a piece of Plastigauge (PG-1) oneach main journal parallel to the crank-shaft.NOTE:Do not put the Plastigauge (PG-1) over theoil hole in the main journals of the crankshaft.6. Install the remaining half of the bearingsinto the crankcase.NOTE:Install the main bearings in their original posi-tions.7. Insert the projection of the bearing intothe notch in the crankcase.8.
