Check the power trim and tilt unit forcracks or corrosion. Replace if neces-sary.2. Check the inner walls of the cylinderblock and tilt cylinder for scratches.Replace if necessary.3. Check the outer surface of the tilt piston1, trim piston 2, adapter 3, free piston4, and oil seal of end screw 5 forscratches. Replace if necessary.4. Check the trim and tilt rams for bends orexcessive corrosion. Polish with #400–600 grit sandpaper if there is light rust orreplace if necessary.5. Check the pipes for cracks or corrosion.Replace if necessary.Checking the valves1. Check the operation of the tilt pistonabsorber valves and the valves for dirt orresidue.
