67C3K11 5-48123456789Checking the crankshaft journal oilclearance1. Clean the main bearings, crankshaft jour-nals, and bearing portions of the crank-case and cylinder block.2. Place the cylinder block upside down ona bench.3. Install half of the main bearings 1 andthe crankshaft 2 into the cylinder block3.NOTE:• Install the main bearings 1 in their originalpositions.• Insert the projection a of each bearing intothe slots in the cylinder block 3.4. Put a piece of Plastigauge (PG-1) oneach crankshaft journal parallel to thecrankshaft.NOTE:Be sure not to put the Plastigauge (PG-1)over the oil hole in each crankshaft journal.5.
