3-8PERIODIC MAINTENANCETIPRefer to the following table for the availablevalve pads.Example:Valve pad number = 158Rounded value = 160New valve pad number = 160f. Install the new valve pad and the valvelifter.TIP• Lubricate the valve pad with molybdenumdisulfide oil.• Lubricate the valve lifter (Top side) with molyb-denum disulfide oil.• Lubricate the valve lifter (Outer side) with en-gine oil.• The valve lifter must turn smoothly when rotat-ed by hand.• Install the valve lifter and the valve pad in thecorrect place.g. Install the exhaust and intake camshafts,timing chain and camshaft caps.TIP• Refer to “CAMSHAFTS” on page 5-12.• Lubricate the camshaft lobes, camshaft jour-nals and camshaft cap with molybdenum disul-fide oil.• First, install the exhaust camshaft.• Turn the crankshaft clockwise several full turnsto seat the parts.h. Measure the valve clearance again.i. If the valve clearance is still out of specifica-tion, repeat all of the valve clearance ad-justment steps until the specified clearanceis obtained.8. Install:• All removed partTIPFor installation, reverse the removal procedure.9. Start the engine and let it warm up for severalminutes.2. Check:• Engine idling speedOut of specification  Go to next step.3. Check:• ISC (Idle Speed Control) learning value“00” or “01”  Check the intake system.“02”  Clean the throttle bodies.Refer to “CHECKING AND CLEANING THETHROTTLE BODIES” on page 7-10.a.
