7-3FUEL TANKEAS30450REMOVING THE FUEL TANK1. Extract the fuel in the fuel tank through thefuel tank cap with a pump.2. Remove:• Bottom side cowling• Side panel• Bottom center cowlingRefer to “GENERAL CHASSIS (1)” onpage 4-1.• Center cover• Fuel tank cover assembly• Side cover• Rear side cowling assembly• FootboardRefer to “GENERAL CHASSIS (2)” onpage 4-11.3. Disconnect:• Fuel tank overflow hose• Fuel tank breather hose• Fuel hose (fuel tank side)• Fuel pump couplerWARNINGEWA17320Cover fuel hose connections with a clothwhen disconnecting them. Residual pres-sure in the fuel lines could cause fuel tospurt out when removing the hose.NOTICEECA17490Be sure to disconnect the fuel hose by hand.Do not forcefully disconnect the hose withtools.TIP• To remove the fuel hose from the fuel pump,slide the fuel hose connector cover “1” on theend of the hose in the direction of the arrowshown, press the two buttons “2” on the sidesof the connector, and then remove the hose.• Before removing the hose, place a few rags inthe area under where it will be removed.• It is prohibited to wear the cotton work glovesor equivalent coverings.4. Remove:• Fuel tankTIPDo not set the fuel tank down so that the instal-lation surface of the fuel pump is directly underthe tank.
