4-28FRONT WHEELTIPApply lithium soap-based grease onto the mat-ing surface of the front wheel axle bolt.5. Tighten:• Front wheel axle• Front wheel axle pinch boltNOTICEECA19760Before tightening the wheel axle, push downhard on the handlebars several times andcheck if the front fork rebounds smoothly.TIPFirst, tighten the wheel axle, then the wheel axlepinch bolt.a. Insert the front wheel axle from the rightside, temporarily install the front wheel axlebolt “1” from the left side, and then tightenthe front wheel axle to 91 N·m (9.1 kgf·m,67 lb·ft).b. Temporarily install the pinch bolts “2” and“3”, and then tighten the pinch bolts to 21N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft) in the order of pinchbolt “3”  pinch bolt “2”  pinch bolt “3”.c. Temporarily install the pinch bolts “4” and“5”, and then tighten the pinch bolts to 21N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft) in the order of pinchbolt “5”  pinch bolt “4”  pinch bolt “5”.6. Install:• Front wheel sensorNOTICEECA21020Make sure there are no foreign materials inthe front wheel sensor rotor and front wheelsensor. Foreign materials cause damage tothe front wheel sensor rotor and front wheelsensor.TIP• When installing the front wheel sensor, checkthe front wheel sensor lead for twists.• To route the front wheel sensor lead, refer to“CABLE ROUTING” on page 2-13.7. Measure:• Distance “a”(between the wheel sensor rotor “1” and frontwheel sensor “2”)Out of specification  Check the wheel bear-ing for looseness, and the front wheel sensorand sensor rotor installation conditions(warpage caused by overtorque, wrong in-stallation direction, rotor decentering, LOC-TITE® on the mounting surface of the rotor,deformation caused by an impact during ser-vice and caught foreign materials). If there isany defective part, repair or replace the de-fective part.TIPMeasure the distance between the front wheelsensor rotor and front wheel sensor in severalplaces in one rotation of the front wheel. Do notturn the front wheel while the thickness gauge isinstalled.
