Check:• Rear brake padWear indicators “1” almost touch the brakedisc  Replace the brake pads as a set.Refer to “REAR BRAKE” on page 4-50.EAS30635CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE HOSESThe following procedure applies to all of thebrake hoses and brake hose holders.1. Check:• Brake hoseCracks/damage/wear  Replace.2. Check:• Brake hose holderLoose  Tighten the holder bolt.3. Hold the vehicle upright and apply the frontbrake several times.4. Check:• Brake hoseBrake fluid leakage  Replace the damagedhose.Refer to “REAR BRAKE” on page 4-50.EAS30893BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC BRAKESYSTEMWARNINGEWA14000Always bleed the brake system when thebrake related parts are removed.NOTICEECA18050• Bleed the brake system in the following or-der.• 1st step: Front brake calipers• 2nd step: Rear brake caliperWARNINGEWA15740Bleed the ABS whenever:• the system is disassembled.• a brake hose is loosened, disconnected orreplaced.• the brake fluid level is very low.• brake operation is faulty.TIP• Be careful not to spill any brake fluid or allowthe brake master cylinder reservoir to overflow.• When bleeding the ABS, make sure that thereis always enough brake fluid before applyingthe brake. Ignoring this precaution could allowair to enter the ABS, considerably lengtheningthe bleeding procedure.• If bleeding is difficult, it may be necessary to letthe brake fluid settle for a few hours. Repeatthe bleeding procedure when the tiny bubblesin the hose have disappeared.1. Bleed:• ABSa. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir tothe proper level with the specified brake flu-id.b. Install the brake master cylinder reservoirdiaphragm.c. Connect a clear plastic hose “1” tightly tothe bleed screw “2”.1
